Dr. LG Shelembe is a dedicated ophthalmologist and eye surgeon with a passion for restoring and preserving vision through compassionate, patient-centred care. Dr. Shelembe completed his medical training at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, earning his MBChB, MMed Ophthalmology, and Fellowship of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa (FCOphth SA). He has trained and worked extensively within major KwaZulu-Natal hospitals, including Greys Hospital, McCord Hospital and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, gaining broad experience in both general and specialist ophthalmic care.

Known for his calm professionalism and attention to detail, Dr. Shelembe manages a wide range of eye conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, diabetic eye disease, refractive problems, and ocular emergencies. He has a special interest in retinal conditions and modern ophthalmic surgical techniques.

Throughout his career, Dr. Shelembe has been recognized for academic excellence and leadership, receiving multiple awards including Best Registrar Surgeon in Ophthalmology UKZN, Registrar of the Year UKZN, Best Registrar Researcher Ophthalmology UKZN, and the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa (OSSA) Best Registrar Poster Award.
